SFCC WOMEN’S BASKETBALL (LATE FRIDAY SUMMARY)

SAINTS DOUBLE UP ON LSU-EUNICE, 123-60

Pensacola, FL – The Santa Fe took control early in their match up against Louisiana State University-Eunice and breezed to a 123-60 win over the Lady Bengals Friday night at the Pensacola JC Tournament.

“We rebounded well from a loss on the road Tuesday and I am happy with our effort,” said SFCC Head Coach Chanda Stebbins. “I feel like we learned a lot today and got better at every position.”

The Saints (5-1) shot 58 percent from the floor in the first half which led to a 68-28 halftime lead. For the game, SFCC shot 55 percent for the game and out rebounded the Lady Bengals 68-46.

Chelsea McMillan led the Saints with 16 points to go along with 13 rebounds while Steffi Sorensen and Denise Derland scored 14 a piece – a career high for Derland. Nichele Glover and Taneskei Richardson added 12 points each while Jhenel Frankin contributed a career high 12 assists.

“Everyone played at least 10 minutes tonight and I was especially happy to see Katrina come in and do what see does in practice every day,” said Stebbins.

The 123 points set a single game record for the program. The Saints are averaging 96 points per game this year while holding opponents to 66.

3-9-07 - Amanda Ward (U of Albany), had a game high 22 points, 4 rebounds, 2 steals and 2 assists and was named America East player of the game in a loss to Hartford in the Quarter Finals of the America East Tournament.

3-9-07 - Taylor Losey (Pace University), had a game high 22 points to go along with 3rebounds, 3 assits and 4 steals in a 77-59 victory over AIC in the opening round of the NCAA Division II Tournament.

3-8-07 - Amanda Ward (U of Albany), had a game high 17 points, 7rebounds and 3 assists and was named player of the game in a 64-61 victory over New Hampshire in the opening round of the America East Tournament.

Women’s Basketball Rookie of the Week
DOBBS FERRY, NY – Mercy College women’s basketball player Samantha DeVore (Norwich, CT) has been named East Coast Conference (ECC) Rookie of the Week, the league announced on Monday, November 27. 
DeVore, a 5-foot-11 freshman forward, exploded for 18 points and 12 rebounds, as she notched her first career double-double in Mercy’s 81-72 road win over Medgar Evers on November 20th. The win was the Flyers’ first of the season, and the team’s first victory since 2004. She hit 7-of-16 field goal attempts and went 4-for-4 from the free throw line in the win. DeVore is averaging 9.0 points and 6.0 rebounds per contest for the year.

11-26-06 - Samantha Brigham (Hofstra) sparked a first half Hofstra run with 11 consecutive points. The freshman was 4-for-4 from the field, including three-for-three from the three-point line in the contest finishing with 14 points to help lead Hofstra to a 85-52 win over Rider.

11-26-06 - Amanda Ward (U of Albany), had 10 points 5 rebounds 2 assists 3 steals and a block to help lead the Great Danes to a 63-50 win over Holy Cross. Amanda recorded her fifth double-digit point total in six games.

All Games are at Windsor High School located in Windsor, CT from 11AM to 7PM.

  • Full Teams Accepted, Certified Referees
  • Girls Levels (Varsity, JV and Middle School)
  • All High School games will be played after 2PM.

Fees:

  • Middle School, JV or Varsity High School – $115 per player or $800 to enter an entire team – Minimum 8 players maximum 12. (Girls Only)
  • All fees to be paid prior to playing in first game!!

Starting Date: Sundays Only; Sept. 11th, 2005 to November 6th, 2005 ( 8 weeks). No games on October 2nd.

 

The schedule for all divisions of the girls fall league will be posted the Wednesday before the first week play is scheduled – September 11th. There will be a 2 week preliminary schedule done and then after team evaluations are complete a final schedule will be posted.

The CT Shamrocks AAU Basketball Program

 Welcome to the Connecticut Shamrocks basketball web site. The Connecticut Shamrocks have gained a national reputation over the past ten years as one of the finest basketball programs in the country. The Shamrock Basketball Program strives to provide student athletes with superior instruction, competition and exposure.

The Connecticut Shamrock girls teams have played the best teams in the country and have won numerous tournaments including the Connecticut State Championship. Shamrock Alumni are currently playing in top high schools and Division I, II and III college programs.

The Connecticut Shamrocks accept girls from across the state from ages 11 to 16 that are interested in competitive basketball. The Shamrocks spring/summer travel program begins in March and ends in July. All Shamrock players are registered as members of the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) of Connecticut and the Youth Basketball Organization of America (YBOA).

Two tryout sessions will be held for each age group. The top players will be selected and notified after the last tryout. Players who do not make the team will be kept on a waiting list should injury or dropouts occur.
