  • Congratulations to Nicloe Kozlak (12A Team) who won the Connecticut Elks Free Throw Shooting Contest and will be advancing to the New England contest the last weekend in March. Nicole also won the Terry Owens award for making the most free throws out of any other girl in the competition. Nicole competed victoriously in the regional competition of the Knights of Columbus Free Throw Shooting Contest and will be competing in their Best in Connecticut Contest next Saturday in Danbury.

The Connecticut Shamrocks had 3 players selected for the ELITE ADIDAS TOP 100 ALL-STAR GAME. They were selected for their Annual All-Star Game which held in front of over 200 College Coaches in Atlanta , GA. Those selected were:

  • Point Guard Symone Roberts - 15 National Team
  • Point Guard Sarah Royals – 13 National Team
  • Center Jessica Mercier – 13 National Team

August 24, 2006 - Cara McCormack - Hampshire Regional High School - Cara verbally committed to attend Canisius College located in Buffalo, NY on a full basketball scholarship. Canisius plays in the MAAC conference which includes Marist, Siena, Fairfield and Iona amongst its members. Canisius qualified for the NCAA tournament last season falling to # 3 seed University of Georgia. Cara at 6' 4" played center for the 2006 State Champion Connecticut Shamrocks 16 National Team and selected Canisius College over scholarship offers from Fairleigh Dickinson University and Duquesne University.

August 23, 2006 - Laura Burdick - Farmington High School - Laura verbally committed to attend the US Military Academy at West Point on a full basketball scholarship. Laura is a first year Connecticut Shamrocks post player who received much attention from many D-1 and D-2 colleges over the past 6 months before deciding to attend West Point.

August 8, 2006 - Ashley Adams - Tolland High School - On her 17th birthday Ashley verbally committed to attend Quinnipiac University on a full basketball scholarship. Ashley is the all time leading shot blocker for the Connecticut Shamrocks and also led the 2006 State Champion Connecticut Shamrocks 16 National Team in blocks and rebounding for the past 4 years.

August 1, 2006 - Amanda Pierlioni - Plainville High School - Amanda verbally committed to attend Bryant University on a full basketball scholarship. Amanda has been the leading scorer on the 2006 State Champion Connecticut Shamrocks 16 National Team for the past 5 years. She is the only player to receive a full basketball scholarship to Bryant University for the class of 2007 recruiting year.

4/22/06 - Congratulations to the Shamrocks 15 National Team/Slattery for Making the elite 8 at the Adidas Deep South Invitational in North Carolina. The 15's finished 7th in the 16 Bracket.

3/12/06 - Congratulations to Cara McCormack whose Hampshire Regional High School Basketball team won their fourth straight Western Mass Division ll championship with a 63-39 win over Drury. Cara led Hampshire with 20 points, 16 rebounds and 7 Blocks

 

3/11/06 - Congratulations to fellow shamrocks Symone Roberts, Sarah Sideranko, Sharnise Beal and Julia Fagan whose New Britian High School Basketball Team won the Class LL State Championship beating Mercy High School by a score of 67-53. Congratulations to Julia Fagan whose was named tournament MVP.

 

3/11/06 - Congratulations to fellow shamrocks Shanice Billington, Richelle Anderson and Chaquaei Baskerville whose Bulkley High School Basketball Team won the Class L State Championship beating Farmington High School and fellow shamrocks Laura Burdick and Victoria Hodges by a score of 43-42 in OT.

 

Congratulations to Necole Evans whose Central High School Basketball team won their second consecutive Western Mass Division 1 championship beating Chicopee by a score of 50-47. During the game Necole Evans surpassed the 2,000 point milestone becoming only the eighth player in Western Massachusetts history to reach the 2,000-point plateau.

The 3 girls will receive their awards at the WNBA CT Sun/Connecticut AAU Night on June 30th at the Mohegan Sun Arena.

4/21/05 - Congratulations to Necole Evans (Central HS) who made All Scholastic Western Mass 1st team and to Jolene Brennan (East Longmeadow HS) who made All Scholastic Western Mass 2nd teamfor the 2004-05 HS season.

4/11/05 - Michele Ribaudo 08 (14N) representing Westminster School was named All-Stars by the Women's New England Prep School Basketball Association (WNEPSBA). Ribaudo is a high-touted newcomer who stepped right into the starting lineup because of her skill level and her ability to see the court. Ribaudo averages 2.9 assists per game, including usually at least one-no look pass, and scores 9.1 points per game. She is the team's leading three-point shooter as well. Michele Ribaudo '08 represented the West in the annual East vs. West All-Star game sponsored by WNEPSBA (the Womens New England Prep School Basketball Association). The game, which the East won 81-52, was played on Sunday, February 27 at Loomis Chaffee in Windsor CT. Ribaudo led the team in scoring with 16 points (including three 3-pointers) and had three assists.

4/6/05 -

  • Congratulations to Alison Donnelly (11N) and Jackie Dunn (11N) of St. Mary's, Longmeadow, MA on winning the Western Mass. CYO Championship and the New England CYO Championship . Ali and Jackie led St. Mary's to a 34-10 victory over Holy Name of Springfield for the Western Mass. CYO title. This qualified the team to compete in the New England CYO Championship held in Providence, RI on April 2-3. In Providence, St. Mary's defeated St. Pat's of Norwich, CT, 56-16, and the Lady Knights of Nashua, NH, 33-25, to qualify for the championship game. Ali's and Jackie's team defeated St. Luke's of Barrington, RI, 28-10, in the final game to become the New England CYO Champions. The team finished the season 31-1 in league play and 42-2 overall, winning Western Mass. CYO and Western Mass. Suburban Division I titles.
  • Congratulations to Trisha Donnelly (13N) of St. Mary's, Longmeadow, MA on winning the Western Mass. CYO Bishops Tournament Championship for 7/8 grade girls. The team defeated St. Thomas of Palmer, MA, 40-24. Trisha led the team in rebounds with 12 and added 8 points for the win. The team also went on to compete in the New England CYO Bishops Tournament in Providence, RI, where they were defeated in the quarter finals, 39-33. Trisha led all scorers with 16 points and 11 rebounds.

4/3/05 - Congratulations to Symone Roberts (13N) and Victoria Markow (12N) of the St. Francis Chargers on becoming the Hartford Diocese CYO State Champions and the New England CYO Champions. In the State Championship game, they defeated St. Paul of Kensington, 55-43. Symone Roberts had 22 pts., 10 rebs., 2 stls. and 5 asst. Victoria Markow had 10 pts., 2 rebs., 1 stl. and 1 asst. This qualified them for the New England CYO Championship. In New Englands, they defeated St. Thomas of Springfield, 58-46, and St. Joseph of Manchester, NH, 67-62, to qualify for the championship game. They beat St. James of Bridgeport, 61-42, to become the New England CYO Champions. Symone had 95 points, 33 rebs, 21 stls and 11 assists in the tournament and Vicki had 15 points, 13 rebs, 2 stls and 4 assists in the tournament. St. Francis finished the season 28-1 in league play and 30-3 overall.

3/19/05 -

  • Congratulations to Necole Evans (16N) and Kristy Williams of Central HS who were the Western Mass D1 champs. Necole was the MVP of the Western Mass D1 Playoffs. Central finished in 2nd place of the D1 states losing to Dartmouth MA. Necole has over 1500 points, 1000 rebounds, 500 blocks through 3 years of HS.
  • Congratulations to Kara McCormick (15N) (Hampshire HS): D2 Western Mass and D2 MA State Champions.
  • Congratulations to Shani Gray (16N) Sharnice Beal (16N) and Victoria hodges (16N) Class LL, Brittany Whiteley (15N) and Amanda Pierlioni (15 N) Class M, for being named to the All State Team.
  • Congratulations to Victoria Hodges (16N) who was named MVP of the NWC League Playoffs.
  • Congratulations to Katherine Woods (14S) for leading her 8th grade "Northwest" travel team to a championship win of the WCGBL. Kat scored 56 points in the 3-game tournament & won an MVP award for her contributions throughout the tournament.

3/14/05 -

  • Congratulations to Whitney Mackay's Suffield High School Team. They were the NCCC Tournament Champions and also advanced to the Class M state semi-finals game.
  • Taylor Semanie (13S) and Julie Auman (13G) led St. Bernard's of Enfield to a 60 - 55 victory in the championship game of the Enfield Deanery Tournament. St. Bernard's completed an undefeated season at 12 - 0. During the 3 tournament games Taylor scored 69 points, had 35 rebounds, 16 steals and 21 assists. Julie added 33 points, 12 rebounds, 14 steals and 10 assists. This was the team's second championship in three years.
  • Congratulations to Teighlor Clare-Kearney, Nikki Ortiz, Callie Tambling, and Coach Craig Kearney for leading Manchester to the 8th grade Travel State Championship. In the championship game, Teighlor had 24 points and Nikki had 22 points to lead their team to victory in OT against Torrington.

2/27/05 - Congratulations to Symone Roberts (13N) and Victoria Markow . (12N) whose St. Francis Chargers defeated St. Paul by the score of 59-38 to win the Central CT Deanery Championship. Symone Roberts was named tournament MVP. She had 27 pts., 14 rbs., 8 asst. & 6 steals in the championship game, and for the 4 game tournament, Symone finished with 93 pts., 45 rbs.,21 asst., and 24 steals. Their team finished the regular season 21-1 in the deanery and 23-3 overall. They now go on to the State CYO Championship in Waterbury beginning on March 5th. The Chargers have
lost 1 game in league play in 3 years.
